sorry orgy with prostitutes, what plural, more than 1. I dont read papers or watch the news, i get all i need from you good people, lol. But if its a three-foursome Coleen can't be upset, thats a once in a lifetime chance that, unless you have a cock like a childs arm holding an apple. If my wife would say no to a chance like that i'd sulk for a fucking week.

Drew Vader - I'm sorry mate, but Johnson is more than just a good player, he's a wee bit special imho. I don't know were the comparison with Giggsy comes from, I'm sure the lad hasn't made that compaison, but that other people have probably made that comparison with our legend.

@ Joseph I forgot that CQ was suspended, but the point still stands, he's not a number one.

@ FletchTHEMAN I was winding you up mate, of course i don't think Carricks and Foster are in the bnp lol.

From The Telegraph:

"Rooney’s role then becomes one in which he drops off - not always - from playing alongside the centre-forward and is able to orchestrate moves and pick the dangerous pass as he did four times against Bulgaria last Friday or arriving late in the penalty area, as he did last night, to score."

Isn't this what we seen in his UTD appearances so far this season ? Is the new plan to use WayneRooney as a classic #10 rather than a player who is stationed centrally and forward ? Were 30-somenhing goals last year not enough ? Or does SAF seem to think that he can get more out of WayneRooney by re-deploying him ? And, of course, what does this adjustment in formation mean for the way that SAF deploys DimitarBerbatov - not to mention Chicharito and KikoTheKid ?

The other interesting thing I picked up from the online news sources today was in The Independent which had a story that the commercial department of MUFC have signed some sort of new "partnership" with a Hong Kong communications company - no mention of money but suggestions of a "gold mine". with more than one vein of gold (i.e., this is the first of many such "partnerships" on the horizon). The article also suggested that this kind of "partnership" is what the Glazers have been planning as a way to expand UTD's commercial reach while keeping the club in the English broadcasting system - which means that a maximization of broadcast income is sacrificed in order ot promote competitiveness in the English game (as opposed to, say, Spain where almost all the television income is scooped up by two clubs). That would smack of learing from their experience with the NFL's income splitting which divides TV revenue and creates a very competitive product - as opposed to baseball in which the NY Yankees (rather like RM) get such a huge private income flow that they can spend as much a 400 million dollars on buying three players on five/six year contracts.

Despite what all the anti-Glazers/Red Knights seem to believe, it would appear that their business acumen is getting constantly short-shrifted by those who only look backwards - or consider debt but not revenues - and not forwards. The world of sports economics is changing fast - and it's gratifying to see MUFC leading the changes among the EPL clubs.

denton davey - Before last season, i always liked the idea that SAF could give Rooney a free role to do whatever he wants, but his performances last year changed my thinking. It'll be interesting to see if SAF lets Rooney play that role of dropping deep, for the rest of this season. I'm of the opinion, that if it's not broke, then why fix it.

willierednut @ 15:27: " "I’m of the opinion, that if it’s not broke, then why fix it.

I don't disagree but SAF seems desperate to find a way to accommodate WayneRooney and Dimitar Berbatov in the same formation. My own view is that I'm with you - last season's attacking trident of Nani/Valencia/WayneRooney was splendid and I was looking forward to seeing Nani's game get kicked up a level and Valencia add some left-footedness to his play. So far, Nani has been electric - not consistent but a real danger-man while Valencia seems to still lack trust in his left foot. HOwever, the level of opposition in the EPL - Newcastle and West Ham at OT and Fulham away hasn't really been much of a "yardstick.

Next week's opponents (Everton away and the Kopsukkers at OT) will be more challenging and should give a better idea of what we can expect - IF, of course, anyone can figure out how SAF sets up the team from game-to-game !

In one of my posts last season, I urged Scott to set up a competition for punters-like-us based on guessing the starting line-ups for each game but he seems to have decided against that idea. I'd venture to bet that no one could get higher than about a 3/4's success rate.

denton davey - Trying to second guess the boss, is like trying to predict the weather, you'll always get it wrong. You mentioned Valencia, a few people have been concerned of his early season form, but i seen enough in the community shield, to suggest there's more to come from him. Talking about formations, how about Rooney behind Berbatov and another. It be interesting to see how that would work out.

Wouldn't that mean sacrificing width ?

So pleased to see the talk return to football. Thanks Denton and Davey, class banter that.
Rooneys first goal was made by the effective fomation of Roo arriving just late in the box with the
defenders already turned around themselves. Roo is such a classy passer of the ball that he can also distribute well from a deep position. He also has the speed. Only question is who to have up front. I like Chicharito, but feel that he will be used sparingly for awhile. Chicharito and Owen fighting for the one who comes on late this season. So that said, trying Berba up front and Rooney deep is interesting. Also want to see Fletcher but in more 30meter shots like he did in the Scotland game. Cracker that should have gone in.

Your observation makes it sound like SAF already has "the new Scholes" and is just waiting to spring him on an unsuspecting world.

About "who to have up front" ? I also like what Chicharito offers and haven't given up (!) on KikoTheKid whose goal for the reserves was just terrific.

I think that when you add DimitarBerbatov to that mix then you have an embarrassment of riches.

On a different note: glad to see Corry Evans is getting to play for Northern Ireland. Sammy MacIlroy just gushed about him (quoted extensively in MEN) and made the younger Evans sound a lot like DarrenFletcherinho (football genius) in terms of his make-up and energy. Just what we need, eh ?

denton davey - A lot of people think Corry is actually the better player, of the two brothers.

I concur that Corry is a big talent. If he can get games with NIreland it will be a big boost to his confidence and development. Our current midfield is just to good for him to get a crack for a couple of years. If Carrick doesn't come through, there might be some chance. But feel it is well off given the talent and maturity just above him. Think it will come, and playing for his country will be a big step up.

@Denton, Spot on about Kiko, but have to think that Chicho and Owen are above him this year. Good comments all around.

@Denton RE: Rooney ..."the new Scholes". Some on here may recall that this has been something I have been talking about for some time. I don't like to say "New Scholes", as it is unfair to both Wayne and Paul. Don't need to go to that place as both have their own gifts. But my view is that Wayne needs a creative position and would thrive as a box to box or deep forward role. To much pressure for him sitting up front. You need real Zen Buddists (Berba, Owen, Chicho?!) to man the lonely role of front line target men. Wayne hasn't the patience for that job. His talents are frankly wasted up front, IMO.
