Kaka and Ronaldo were not bought during Mourinho's tenure. So how can you say he buys too many star players frequently. Khedira,Ozil,Modric are good buy and Mourinho has done shrewd business. WHere are the star buys that you pointed out.
You say manager are motivated by great players around them. Agreed but still you have to take those star players and win trophies. Its not easy. Real madrid could not progress beyond round of 16 for 5 seasons continuously from 04-09 if I am not wrong. Then also they had some great players but they could not perform that well. With mourinho in charge they have defeated Barca and are the La liga champions. Like I said I don't know who will be our next manager but I do hope it better be someone who can handle the pressure and Mourinho and Pep come to my mind who can handle the pressure.

Wayne.

He got lucky? If that was the case and it isn't then grab him he's annointed. This guy would carry United forward for however long he was manager and if he moved on it would not be before the FFP kicked in.And boy what damage he would do to City and Chelsea's hopes of glory would be a joy.So Wayne it's not a case of him being hit with the lucky stick Barca's whole playing was designed by him as was Spain's national team haven't done badly have they ?

We don't want a new medical centre so that our players can get over their injuries faster

We want them to not have injuries in the first place!

Agree with the lot that say Mourinho has actually done some shrewd business, and the success he achieved with Porto and Inter wasn't bought. The moment he left Inter sort of fell away, half the players in their squad stopped performing. And mourinho is something of a tactical savant. Amazing really the way he can set up a team not to be beaten and then reconfigure them for attack when needed, things he has done with Madrid in equal measure. He also is a practitioner of the sort of siege mentality that SIr Alex has perfected. Having said that the guy is a walking "look at me" sign. It maybe a tactic to get pressure off his players but really the antics he has gotten upto, including that poke in the eye, make it more about mourinho than anything else. And to imagine the club of Bobby Charlton, Paul Scholes, etc be run by such a figure is difficult to swallow. Sir Alex has always maintained a quiet dignity about the way the club operates. Its a tight ship, according to a certain philosophy, which is what brings sustainable success. Mourinho has never shown himself committed to any club or style of play. And the crucial thing which is something neither mourinho nor Pep have done is rebuild a side when needed. Atleast Pep has a philosophy he subscribes to, and his actions are linked to a club ethos, something that could help United all the way from academy level to our system of play onfield. Whether he or mourinho have that ability to ruthlessly rebuild sides is something time will tell, it is after all what separates Sir Alex from the rest of the managers. So over all Pep shades it for me.

fergie is the boss September 9, 2012
Ash - I said this on here, I would rather the shadow of mourinho hanging over the club than fergie, mourinho would be a transitional manager, so when mourinho leaves, it will be easier for the club to find a new manager, than finding some hack just after fergie leaves.

Robbie Brady’s been called up to the Republic of Ireland senior squad for Tuesdays international friendly with Oman at Craven Cottage.

Brady scored for the under 21′s in their 2-1 defeat to Hungary on Thursday. The winger has seven goals in 11 caps at U-21 level. He spent last season on loan at Championship side Hull City where he made 39 appearances, netting three times.

Some interesting posts. I find it funny fans are looking for a long term manager from the off
It's unrealistic and quite daft to be honest.
Fergie didn't imagine he'd be here 10 years much less still be in the job in his 70's
I'll take ANY manager who feels proud of managing United and ofcourse some experience in European football and managing players.. anything else is a pipe dream.
The same fans who turn their noses at Jose will be begging for him if day ole goes two years with Fuck all to show for it. This is the flip side of so much success under one manager.
An unrealistic belief we can get some one of the same cloth. Whoever comes in will have his own agenda and like I said if he's happy with the terms and proud to manage the club, that's fine by me

if shrewd business is buying luka modric for 33million then i don't know what else to say. He's always bought the most obvious world class player and has been helped by the top players already at the club he joins. Those that know exactly will know the consequences of mourinho, he's mentality is best at the likes of PSG who will shower him with his usual unlimited budget.

Slim - yet again, you fail at analysing comments. when i say 'long term' i could mean entirely different things. I've said it, even if a manager was to stay for 2 to 3years, he should not only chase success but also lay down the right foundation to ensure the club continues on the right track. Sir alex is doing that and the next manager will benefit, mourinho comes in and his successor will have nothing else to work on. Why? because mourinho only goes around increasing his ego at big clubs, it's all about him and if you prefer that then there are a lot more people that do not. not championing 'ole' for the role, i'm simply wanting an adequate manager that will carry on the symbol of the club. Thankfully, the manager and the experienced guys around him will make the right choice.

Sorry to say buddy but you are talking rubbish. Tell me which was the last player that Mourinho bought in real madrid before Modric. You are playing the same band again and again that Mourinho just buy world class players yet you are not naming me one. You say pep will be suitable to replace Fergie (Agreed) but you fail to acknowledge that even pep spent loads of money.

One more thing a manager cannot spoil the foundation of a big club like Man united in 3 or 4 or 5 seasons. He won 2 league tittle with chelsea and when he left Chelsea did not win anything so It becomes mourinho's fault. Chelsea never had any youth academy. So its the fault of Mourinho that they don't have one. IF it was not for Mourinho's brilliance chelsea would have not been in the map. Come on who were chelsea before 2004. Nothing. Chelsea are still one of the top clubs in england so how come mourinho have left them high and dry is beyond me.

Now coming to inter. Mourinho took them one step ahead and made them special. He took just above average players and not world class and made them win the europe. Milito, Eto,o,Sneijder were all playing great under him and then he leaves and tnone of them are performing so it becomes the fault of mourinho. You should blame Rafa benitez for Inter milan's downfall.

Manchester united has a foundation for more than 50 years and no one can spoil it in 3 or 5 years. Chelsea had no foundation. He made them one. Porto also had minimum foundation he made them the best in portugese liga. Inter were just great because of mourinho and when he left they again became mediocre.

You may not like him personally and thats OK but he is still one of the best managers in current era. Whether he manage united is one to look for the future. I don't want our club being trophyless for 7 or 8 season. Period.

Dr Dread RoM has been awesome in the last 10 days. I saw Rooney's interview. He looked sorry, like he knows how bad he fucked up. STR has softened a little. Cool. I loved your 4 stages of Rooney. From Jilted lover, and more. From living in the US we went through the feeling of men playing boyz games for our favorite teams, to millionaires with agents and free agency. So I went through the 5 stages faster then most. Some still Jilted fine by me.

Now how about this RVP GUY!!!!!!!!

@Wayne, hehe I see this in you mate.
When I was at University, some older dudes went to Ireland for some backpacking and drinking, of the 4, 2 guys were what I considered tough guys. The other 2 not wimps but just dudes. I saw them when they got back, one tough guy and both of the average guys had busted noses. I was so funny to here their story, about how Irish guys head but in a fight real well because of soccer and heading the ball. In their 1st of 3 brawls 2 got their noses broke, the last guy in the last fight with a boot to the face.

Sam loved how you articulated the Rooney positive position in the last week, I am working a project where it is a high tech lock down, SS#'s Credit Card #'s medical information way to easy for organized crime to steel Identities. So no posting during the game. Cell phones on your person you are fired.ect.

This year so exciting. RVP, Kagawa, Powell, Angelo and Buttner. With big swings at Hazy and Lucas.

Now looks like Mike can play CM and find his rhythm.

Zibbie - if look at the signings made by sir alex, you can see the blend between signing a marquee world class player in VanPersie and the players who are potential and will work towards being top class (angelo henriquez, alexander buttner, nick powell, kagawa), whilst also bringing more players through the youth system. This is the fantastic balance sir alex makes, he chases success but he also knows he won't be the manager for too long and is laying down quality resources for the next manager and this is the philosophy the manager will want when they choose his replacement. All i can say is, whoever takes on the baton from sir alex has a massive job but like i've said, let's enjoy the wily scot's presence at the club for now.

The great thing about how Rooney is slow to come back to form when gone, Man Utd is stacked on the attacking side now. Less to no worries when he is laid up, and he is not counted on to deliver instant goals and wins upon his return and the 3 games back to speed thing. Now after those 3 games back up to speed thing. Kagawa, RvP and Wazza. HUM how wonderful is this thought. We all know until it happens have some some unanswered questions. We all feel this and have RoM to share our anxiety until we see the 3 together and how well they mesh.

You see one of the problems with england team? they always get carried away. I was just looking through the news and noticed woy comparing a world class player in cesc fabregas with our very own cleverley who we know is a work in progress. He's yet to have a full season in the united first team, he still needs more time to improve aspects of his game. Comments like that from woy are what places unwanted pressure on him, if he doesn't keep up that performance then he'll be absolutely lambasted. Plus why is he played as a number 10 for england but we play him in central midfield?.

Sam for your last post, that is why Clevs might be a the perfect Club for him. SAF will put him in a position to succeed. Not ask more of his many talents, push him to grow in finishing and longer pass outlets from his deeper positioning. For now pass move into space to receive a ball, pass keep moving find space to receive a ball. Get it be aware safe and attacking pass, move to space to receive the ball. FINISH. Well done here is what your doing well. And here is what were working on.

I see in that set up Rooney in the next few years will have a double triangle.

One with , RVP, Kagawa and Rooney

Two with Kagawa, Cleves and Rooney.

Wazza has the strength to body up with YaYa in a more forward position, as well a Fellini and the such. He can drift form the midfield stripe to about 25 yards out to disrupt the play as well be were his is most dangerous. In transition runs with plays of talent!

Wasn't even referring to any of your posts in particular.
Fact is its impossible to say with any degree of certainty about the staying power of any manager. It's a whole new ball game these days. Look around Europe and you'll see what I mean.
For me its simple ,whomever it may be all I want is a man who will be honored to manage the club and ofcourse sound knowledge of the game and a strong belief in his methods.
The rest I'll leave to fate and whoever else is in charge

England skipper Steven Gerrard is predicting "a fantastic future" for Tom Cleverley, who confirmed his promise with another encouraging performance in the 5-0 win against Moldova.

"Tom is going to be a good player. He is only a young boy. Games like that in Moldova will be fantastic experience for him.

"He is playing for one of the biggest clubs in Europe and he has broken into the England team so he has got a fantastic future. He keeps learning the game, keeps trying to improve, he is going to be a top player."

When asked if Cleverley could fill the role on Rooney's return, Gerrard said: "We will have to wait and see but he is doing a good job. He's played there twice now, against Italy and against Moldova, and he has done himself no harm at all."

Now that's putting more pressure to the kids shoulders

Hello RoM (c)

Interesting one on Nani and Zenit.
Not sure what to make of it but either the player knows after United there is only the way down or Real Madrid simply didn't want to join the "race" to sign him.

Stay and fight, Louis. I will survive one more season with you at United. And of course grow some balls.

Imho.
