Who in their right mind wouldn't want Bale in their team
Bale. "he doesn't want to come here" says who?
"Hopefully
Evra convinced Moyes we don’t need Bale" what a load of crap.

@ Proverb - Bale for £90mn plus Hernandez?????? - Only a dumb fool like you would consider that. Even the tarts at RM are not stupid enough to pay Levy's crazy prices. Wanting Bale and paying for Bale - 2 different things. And No, he does not want to come to United. He wants to go to Madrid. According to every single report that is. Fukwit. Lol!!!

I have no doubt United would love to get Bale and Ronnie and Fabregas and Modric. It's just not realistic. Press playing games. Even with Ronnie, Ancelotti has settled the ship at Madrid and it looks a happy camp. What is realistic is signing a CMF. Moyes said he wanted a couple of MF on day one. Last week he said we were definitely getting some signings. If we get one good MF that would be enough for most fans given the extent youth have shone. Gustavo or Fellani. Anyone will do, especially before the big games. Fellani at least has experience handling Chelsea and Chav MFs.

@ Proverb - I have been reading this site for years though started commenting recently. @ wayne is a guy who comments sensibly for a while and then goes crazy and threatens and abuses half the people on the site, including me. No one in their right mind would meet someone like that offline. And no, I did read that thread and its stupid boring idiotic arguments, @ NBI never bashed Moyes, just said his backroom team were 3rd rate compared to United's at a time they were new loads of fans were saying the same thing, not just here on Red Cafe and loads of other United site. People like you who come one to here to attack people are the real fukwits. Unfortunately there are some on every blog. Your comments are stupid and out of proportion to anything that has been said. You don't like a blogger, don't fuking read their comments. @ NBI - top poster. You just seem jealous. It's a blog, so you put your shit out people will get involved because you fucking ruin it for everyone. No one was having a go till your stupid ass turned up. And your posts are boring and pointless as shit.

NBI it bewilders when you cant stick to one point, that's my main issue with you mate, other than that I'm all fine with everyone voicing their own opinion its their own prerogative I don't give a shit whether it favors rooney or anyone else it that case. If you say he's shit, you then have to form a well backed up essay to show up instead of throwing. Insults and all kinds of untrue stories to support your false statement

I was watching Gary Bailey on Supersport in South Africa. He was on part United's tour of Asia and he rubbed shoulders with Moyes and Woodward. He says United are having a shift in policy "partly" regarding transfers. According to him we will now always go for the big name players and our top targets this summer were always Cesc, Bale and yes Ronaldo. This is a shift from the Anderson , Nani , Hernandez type of signing which is driven by recognizing potential and is necessitated by being listed on the stock exchange and also to keep the club marketable and attractive to our multiple commercial partners. He was confidant that there is going to be a 75M bid for Gareth Balel. Spurs would be foolish not to take that. I don't know about Hernandez being offered in the deal coz we still need him if we are competing no all fronts. This also means that we will not sell our best players and therefore Rooney will stay.

Bale is a good player dont get me wrong but he dont worth 90m lol.
How the transfer market goes is beyond me.
I do hope Nani come back fit and rarely to go. He was looking so shape and fast, skillful as always in the pre season.
If he does well, he is a starter. If he dont, he still is our best winger lol

@ bayoRed - If what you heard was true it's completely depressing and goes against everything the Club stood for under Sit Matt & SAF. If true it means the commercial men have taken over and will slowly destroy United by effectively deciding who managers sign now SAF is gone. Dangerous. Depressing thought.

It would explain why we weren't interested in competing for Thiago and are interested in Ronaldo not SAF style at all.

@ King Cantona

you have a point there regarding the commercial men taking over but do you think the original policies can remain if moyes is successful in his first season? or to put it a better way do you think moyes will retain control over transfers if he proves in his first season that he knows what's best for the team?

I do believe that even if the policy alters we still gonna bring in players from within the ranks, (style barcelona) this is to ensure we remain competitive enough post sir alex ferguson rather than trying to differ from club initial way of doing things.

Sir Alex Ferguson was/is an extra ordinary individual and manager. Its down to him that he was able to consistently build and rebuild winning teams while adhering to his fundamental beliefs but at the same time adapting reasonably well to the changes in football and in the clubs around us. How he managed to survive (win titles again and again) during the tumultuous period during the Glazers takeover is also testament to his qualities as a manager and individual. Its down to him that at United the manager has always been all powerful and the most important man at the club. Now that is why we have always known that these shoes will be hard to fill. I don't know how Moyes will handle it but the 'Commercial men' will be knocking at his door with figures of how our shareholding price will do if we sign Messi .I know SAF would have handled them and kept the club firmly in his grasp... that s why we wait with bated breath to see what happens to our club in the post Fergie era.

what about buying players of the chicharito ilk? players that are young and raw but very talented that are not necessarily from our own youth?

@ WilliamAR- Basically, we are run from a London office by a CE who never really came to games before. Don't know if he was at the CS game? People tend to focus on what they know and he and the Glazers know business and making money. Gill was a fan who loved the Club and loved football, backed SAF. There are lots of stories of internal battles.

@ bayoRed - Spot on - SAF was one of a kind. Moyes seems like a polite humble guy, not someone who will want to rock the boat on his first day. He is politer and more chatty than I expected. I hope his willingness to work with the owners and Woodward does not mean he gives in to "policies" about how he must recruit. This is also a test of character for him, as the soul of the football Club was protected by Gill & SAF, now its in his hands.

Not a fun idea! Our knight has gone, a new dawn begins, who is friend and who is foe.

I think Fergie hand picked Moyes for his belief in bringing in youth and giving them a chance, he clearly thought that is important and he knew it would go up in smoke if a Jose Mourinho ilk is put in charge. I'm sure Moyes will have his say and try to ensure that the traditional United way is not obliterated. As I said big shoes to fill, and I hope Moyes finds his winning ways quickly because that will determine how much influence he will have on operations.

It's really about getting the balance right between the commercial and football side. Both are needed. It seemed right under SAF. It seems like it is tilting a little more to the commercial side now.

@ bayoRed - let's hope your source is misinformed..! Though it would not be surprising if there was truth in that. Woodward said they would back Moyes. Hopefully these are his transfer targets. But it was odd how he started by saying he never speaks about players at other Clubs, then spoke about Fabregas. That must have been an order from above as he never did that at Everton.

@ bayoRed - Moyes is still learning the ropes and traditions, like travelling in suits Lol. You are spot on, wins will give him more clout. It will take him time to impose himself. One good thing, SAF and Gill are in the boardroom to back him up, don't know how much influence they really have though? SAF could always call Moyes round to his house again if he's not too chuffed. I am sure he can still strike fear of God in Ed and the Glazers. Shame Gill didn't hang on another year.

@ NBI - Agree, the balance just doesn't feel quite right!!!!! It's been a creeping commercialisation, it feels a bit like we are there for a pound to advertise anything and its about the football side keeping the business growing, not the business keeping the football side growing.

bayoRed August 13, 2013
@ King Cantona You're right there, it would have been much smoother and less scary if Gill had hung on for another year or two. I feel more apprehension about how Woodwad will do than how Moyes will do. Moyes is similar (or believes in the United way) to Ferguson and has already spoken about continuing the traditions of United. Woodward on the other hand is just ......new ground ....., unknown territory..,, he is the reason why we are all nervous. He has signed more commercial deals tan players since he started.

WilliamAR August 13, 2013
I have to say that people could appreciate David Gill more even if a signing didn't go through purely on the basis that he attended matches and always showed that he had the best interests of our club at heart, especially when it came to backing SAF. If I can travel from Scotland to attend games as a fan I think woodward can show the same commitment. I think it sounds like he needs to understand that commercial deals are all well and good for their pockets but united is a way of life to a lot of people and what matters to us is what happens on the pitch.

woodward is a puppet of the glazers and he will do what they ask him to do.. get more money to clear off the debts... he can never be like David Gill as he doesn't have that footballing knowledge.. its sad that gill and fergie retired together, our tranfer strategies are in the doldrums.. just one quality midfielder maybe two and we are contenders for sure..

@WilliamAR

Mate I heard the same from Nani lips after the Crewe game. Seems obvious to me he is in Moyesy's plans. I even suggested he would get the number 7 shirt. However I was rebuked by that top red "WeAreUnited" and accused of not even following United because according to him "Nani might be leaving". So there you have it. Nani is gone, don't bother talking about him.
