Wow, unlucky. Lindegaard didn't deserve that, been very solid today, especially with his feet, but nothing he could do about it.

Have a bit of sympathy for me. Im in sweden 3.20 in the morning here. Whats more is I am an avid hockey fan and the Leafs are my team. Im up to 4-5am every other morning (2-3 times a week) for 4-5 odd months. Without fail.

We really look amazing today and i dont care if it is a mls team, we look much better sharper just great go on you reds.

does anyone remember when Sir Alex said if we didn't buy a midfielder that someone from the club will be promoted into the scholes role, because anderson today man, he is beasting today his passing and willingness to get foward is exactly what we need from him next season.

would love if sneijder came, but would be even happier if anderson turns into that world beater i knew he would be since his debut season

Devil ... I get the point, from my own personal experience. But I don't think you will win any friends making the point that way. Almost anyone with half a brain understands that overseas fans have their own frustrations to deal with, and they understand that following a team long-distance as we do is bloody tough. It's not only about getting up at all hours of the night, but for many of us it's also about being committed to a team that you may never, ever get to see live (though I have, once).

But when you make the argument like that, you're just rubbing people's noses in it. All it does is piss off people who would otherwise be sympathetic to our plight, without having any effect on those who will always consider anyone who lives more than a mile or two from OT to be a glory-hunter. So you upset our friends, and feed our enemies with more reasons to hate us.

@dreFu - anderson's problem has always been consistency, he has the tools to be a great box to box player but his end product and goal ratio needs to improve for him to nail down a place and he needs to stay off injuries as often as possible.@dreFu - anderson's problem has always been consistency, he has the tools to be a great box to box player but his end product and goal ratio needs to improve for him to nail down a place and he needs to stay off injuries as often as possible.

Samuel -- right. That's all he needs -- consistency. A bit like Nani a couple of years ago. I hope Anderson can turn it around, like nani did -- and as quickly as Nani did.

Totally agree, that's what annoys me about Ando as well to be honest, when you look at games like this and see him totally control the midfield and terrorize defenders and the opposing midfielders you wonder why can't he do this regularly but i believe this season will be a different story, i saw too much progression from Anderson towards the end of last season to backtrack again i have 100% faith that this will be his season.

and why did you repeat what you said to me twice, i can read you know friend loool

Great game, dominated from start to finish, Young looked great, Fabio will be first team sooner rather than later, Ando say no more really just amazing, Evans very comfortable.

Just very happy about our first game, we were incredibly sharp for a team that hasn't played for like 2 months well done reds.

Young and Kiko both looked really sharp for me, Kiko especially. His movement was excellent and he wanted to be involved all the time. Young seems to offer us on the left what both Nani and Valencia give us on the right, the to-the-byline and cross that Giggsy really struggles with these days against the better right backs.

Rio looks much stronger at the back than when we left off last season - in fact a few of the lads looked like they'd put in some solid gym work over the summer,

Don't know what to make of the opposition, but thought we gave a good account of ourselves.

@Stateside - your words are appreciated

My intention was not to rub any feathers but maybe to open some eyes out there. Didn't really mean to offend anyone, so hopefully people don't take it that way. I know that most of the regulars here are, and have been respectful, to most fans on this side of the pond (non- troll ones, at least :P )...and I don't see them taking offense on my post (Ex: Goat - He gets it ;) ).

However, there are many fans out there with a crazy entitlement to call us "glory hunters" simply because we don't live in Manchester (or the UK), and these is who I meant to address. It is not easy to wake up at 4:30am on a Sunday to watch a match, but we do it for no other reason than loving the club.

Good performance. Don't want to single anyone out especially but good build up play, kept possession well enough. A little rustiness to be expected. haha devil 310 we know what it's like to watch games at weird times...world cups, world club challenge, pre season friendlies etc. Don't feel like I deserve a medal though, for watching my local team play via the net at 1:00 am! ;-)

Great way to start our season.I have to say Kiko the kid can easily turn as a star player for us in next 2 years. The guy's finishing ability should be lauded.
Owen again proved why he still is atop finisher when fit.I have a feeling the current season would be Owen's best with united.
It was mouthwatering stuff to see both the twins in action together. For sure a regular starters for us as well as for Brazil (Who by the way played like brazil today in a 4-2 win against equador)
Fabio will be our Rb this season but he looks good as a Lb.
Coming to our new signing Young.Have to say it has been a shrewd piece of business by Us.He showed why he will be useful by taking some great corners today.Overall a great signing.
My MOTM today is Anderson. It is his season.Mid fielders reach their peak at the age of 26 and they increase their level after that.Look at xavi he wasn't that great at 25 let alone 23 so guys be patient with ando.We will for sure see a better Anderson this season.Hope to see him scoring some goals.
Overall I am very happy with the start.Result was secondary today it was how we played today was important. We played an entertaining game and the players are gelling with each other.
Now lets continue this way and win 20/4/12

good morning all

I know its just one game, but still I'm Very happy and proud of Ando, that's what I'm banging on about for the last few days How Ando(along with fletch) will be the key for the new season,
so glad that Ando started of his first preseason(after his first season) in style

if that Ando/Carrick pair does continue to perform like this consistently with Fletch also in the background, where will a superstar like Wesley Sneijder fit in, if he comes, for obvious reasons he has to be regular starter whenever he is fit then where will that leave Ando/Fletch, atleast one of them will have to sit out of the team for majority of the season and that is really being unfair to them

@Devil...

I hear you, and StatesideAussie too. I know i might not ever see our boys in the theatre of dreams with my own eyes, but this is why I am thankful SAF and the boys come across the pond every year now. I can see them here in the states. The first usa tour was the only time so far i got to watch our boys, it was in Chicago at Soldier Field against Oliver Kahn's (who wore that silly hat) and Michael Ballack's Bayern Munich. It was brilliant! Rio had those RIDICULOUS cornrows in his hair, and Ronnie was blossoming into legend. I even got Sir Ryan to sign my youth jersey (it was the home kit, with Old Trafford shadow printed on the fabric, Umbro with Sharp as the sponsor and that ridiculously high collar) but it truly was a dream come true. So like i was saying, i haven't seen the Old Trafford yet, but again on July 23, i'll be in my own theatre of dreams right here in chicago... but deep down i just want to sing in Stratford End once in my life!

@Mike - I've only been to old trafford once. You gotta go! - I watch us beat Wigan 4-2 back in 08 (Ronaldo scored twice, Tevez, Rooney) Amazing experience. Probably this season will make it up there.

Question, Is that game in Chicago sold out yet? I'm thinking about making my way up there. In terms of the stadium location, is it hassle to get there from the city. A good friend of mine is getting his maters there, and it lands on a weekend so I might make it

Dont want to be bigging up Kiko too soon, but just yesterday King Eric and myself were having this conversation saying we loved the guy. And tonight he comes up with two first class finishes.....

And Kiko ain't going anywhere, no swaps with Inter for Sneijder or anyone....Kiko, Hernandez, Rooney and Welbeck are our future strikers.....

spot on, Kiko is an excellent talent. For someone of his age his game temperament is really good.
Along with the two good finishes, he should have scored the third one too from an excellent cross by Ashley Young

Nice game by united, looking forward for more in the next game coz that was jus the first game in two months. come on u reds!!

By the look of things am sure even if we sign Sneijder, Ando&Fletch will still have a lot of games as Sir alex loves to rotate the squad and also the many competition we are involved in we surely need depth in our squad. lets hope he comes first.

yeah i agree with your point,

but what Ancha implies is that,

the rotation has to happen between carrick/fletch/ando..we gotta play sneidjer every game if we sign him..because we never make a 35 Mil and 200k per week player to warm the bench..

so the point is, fletcher/ando and carrrick are bound to miss many games because if we sign sneidjer then he has fixed starting 11 every game if he is fit..

so you can see that, carrick/fletch/ando are all young and they should be in the team week in and week out, i can understand the rotation if the player is aged..

i m not against of for the signing of sneidjer..i trust in Sir Alex and my team,

carrick/fletch/ando - rotation - well it remains to be seen how it will work out..

Wesley Sneijder is not a player whom you buy to rotate, he is equal to Wayne Rooney in terms of talent & indispensability, if he comes it has to be either Carrick/WS or Ando/WS or Fletch/WS
forget about one odd game here & there and also forget about calling cup games, in the remaining competitions if you observe either Fletch/Ando Comes as third option which implies that one of them will not play more than approx 10 games unless there is an injury crisis, so if WS does come then that would practically make one of Fletch/Ando a fringe player

I really love the kid...he's only 19, but was looking like a fucking monster..

Also with his new found respect and maturity, I'm sure Sir Alex will try to extract the most of his potential.

He's making all the right noises since he's come back. He said that when you go to another club, thats when you realise how great a club Manchester United is, so he's learnt his lesson and hopefully wont want to go back to Italy or Spain once he grows successful.

Also, Sir Alex always has kind words for him and called him a future superstar in the past. I have high hopes for the lad.

yeah hope so the kid carries on this form..got sweet left foot as well..nice goals..

but i m afraid as the season starts he will get limited opportunities..

i just hope he gets on with the season..

what is ur opinion on the prospect of Kiko being loaned to an EPL club?

Rooney/Chicha/Berba/welbeck/Owen -

ca he learn more by ebing the udnerstudy of the top 3 strikers and learn the trade at UTD rather learning from somewhere after being loaned?

190 k a week? Ridiculous. What on earth have footballers done to command such a pay? Even 190 k a year is a tidy sum!! Fuck it, it doesn't look like sneijders coming...why should he? He's at a great club, and isn't all that desperate to leave. No Nasri, No Sneijder, No nothing. Somebody should fly cleverely over to the US NOW.

Yeah i got your point guys, I think the important thing, we should get sneijder first and lets not worry on who is going to warm the bench more than the other, Sir alex knows better on how he is going to use them all, and lets not forget Giggsy in that position as well. damn!! its hard to be a manager in these situations..

Something has to give because at the moment we have 7 strikers if you count Diouf. And I can't see us having more than 6 or maybe even 5 once the season starts. So it would make sense for Kiko to get a loan move to a Premiership club. Of course it remains to be seen if there will be any twists in Berbatov's case. He hasn't been offered a new contract and if he stays, he will leave for free next summer.

Supertramp - Looks like Real did actually have some class........

"1958 was a time when Madrid truly showed their class - firstly, they offered us a player on loan who is considered by Madridistas as the greatest footballer of all-time - Alfredo Di Stefano and secondly after winning a 3rd consecutive European Cup at the end of that season, Madrid proposed that the trophy be given to Manchester United. However, in both cases, neither of the proposals materialized. United, in a complete financial mess, didn't take up Madrid on the Di Stefano loan option and UEFA didn't take up Madrid on their suggestion to award the European Cup to us"
