I think he might actually be promising...

good enough to start 20 games nxt season but definitely not good enough to inherit the no 7 shirt.....

No doubt he's a good player, but a regular starter for Utd? I doubt it.
We have overpaid as usual. For £16m I would have preferred Yuri Zhirkov.

Man.. you can compile such a video with Lee Martin's skills!
Whats the music by the way?

The goal he scored against Villa at around 55 seconds is the one that impressed me most, pace, power and a clinical finish. Add this sort of ability to the strike aginst city and we might look back come may as £14-16m being a bit of a steal.
I look forward to seeing him in a red shirt.

i think sir Alex wasnt gonna experiment so he went wit a winger who was accustomed to the premier league speed of play so we wouldnt miss a beat... unlike Yuri Zhirkov who would need a whole season to get used to play in the prem.

I don't mind that he doesn't score as much, I think finishing is something that can be developed. What he seems to have is pace, and you can't learn pace. His acceleration will allow him to beat the man and put a cross in for Rooney and Berbatov. That, and he's not lazy like Ronaldo so he'll track back and help our defence out as well.

He certainly looks OK from that video. If he can provide the assists and get a few goals next season, it can only be promising from him.

Lets give him a chance guys.

Blackbabyjesus - Give the lad a chance. I reckon he will prove to be a bargain. Pace, Power, direct, wicked shot and tracks back. I like the lad. He hasn't scored many goals because Wigan don't create anywhere like the number of chances United will.

let me tell ya a little tail
i hear costa is very close to a deal
we've signed valencia
and by all reports Karim Benzema is very close
Benzema and Berbatov from watching as much Karim Benzema the last month will make such an amazing amazing partnership i truely believe that and from 88% rate crosses comeing in from valencia giggs nani(?) and the scholes and caarricks and fletches sorting them out i say fuck citys 10 man attack
goals that ron wount bring will be covered for
and oh yeah i forgot one other thing Wayne Rooney
stick all the ingredents in a bowl stir them nicely add a few amazing youngesters
and you've baked a wonderful cake with 19 candles on top

@GHTT - a cake you say? I like cake. With 19 candles on it? Even sweeter. I bet the dippers won't like your cake though, mate. ;)

What ya all gotta remember as well is that this lad aint a finished article... just think how much he will improve by being round the united lads training every day... he is young and united will develop him..

What i can see from this lad is he is defo direct... very very strong... gets on with the game... and has some bleeding pace about him.

GHTT bang on pal... what peeps to realise is that CR7 did score the most goals... but his selfishness also caused the likes of Wazza, Berba, Nani, etc etc from scoring more themselves...

I tell ya now, that Berba and Wazza will benefit from Valencia... and Evra as well will benefit coz he will track... he isnt lazy... plus u dont see him rolling around, or hands on hips... he gets on with his game..

United love direct players... and trust me this lad is as direct as it gets... he is fast, strong, skilful and does pack a venomous shot... and Berba especially will find him really useful.

I think there were some issues behind the scenes last season especially with Tevez and Berba... coz Berba looked troubled as though he had a weight on his shoulders... but i reckon this season coming you will get a great season out of him..

Couple that with Wazza playing up front, and then maybe with a Benzema in the mix and Macheda with a good pre season..

How can i put this..

"The futures bright, The futures United".

I've been fed up of playing Wigan because his pace has always given us problems, thankfully now he's on ours and with proper support from world class players, we'll see him give hell to left backs all around the country!

Hey this guy is no mug! to have Real Madrid tracking him at the same time says a lot! he has the makings of a good United player who would fit in with our style of play... Pace, Power & work ethic all things you can't teach! The rest can come with the right training and the right set up like Uniteds behind him he can learn off players such as Rooney, Giggs etc.

I agree with a lot of u guys... Gotta give this guy a chance! Fair enough he is no ronaldo but he's got lightening pace, strength, determination & an almight shot!! He can Still have a significant impact upon us retaining the premiership & making it 4 in a row!

I think with a couple more signings we will freshen up & take teams by suprise! No longer pushing everything thru ronaldo!

The team should revolve around Rooney! It is his time!

He has superb power in his shots, and great pace. he's not signed to score the goals, he's signed to assist and provide them. berba and rooney and possibly benze will be the ones banging in goals. i am pleased he will train with the players after 2 weeks and take part in pre-season, can't wait for it now.

If we would've bought this guy from a foreign club he would've been hailed as the Second Coming of Christ! I remember when we signed Dwight Yorke and everyone was like 'Wha..? Some Aston Villa player? Yeah he's good but he's not good enough especially at THAT price'. End of the year nobody was doubting him or Fergie though.

Valencia's no more gonna be a new Ronaldo than Yorkie was a new Cantona but you can arguably say that, as a team, Man Utd played better with Yorke leading the line than with The King simply because Yorke acted as a cog in the machine rather than the engine. Whereas Cantona covered over the weaknesses of others with his greatness, Yorkie by simply doing his role played to their strengths. Zidane said Ronnie going would make us more balanced and dont just think thats Galactico B.S.

After Eric, after Keano, after Van Nistlerooy we became more balanced. Why not after Ronnie?

someone find me a highlight video of ronaldo before he came to united... then compare it to this video of valencia. a showpony vs. an established premier league player. give the lad a chance... more importantly, give sir alex a chance to work his magic on yet another young, impressionable winger.

valencia will be to berba and wazza what beckham was to van nistelrooy yorke etc he will have the most assists in our team next season no doubt! everyone keeps on banging on about replacing ronaldos goals but does anyone even remember how many assists he got last year? not many.. and i heard somewhere that in the league ronaldo scored all of his goals at old trafford and at the hawthorns...not forgetting he took all free kicks and penalties..

if valencia can can score 5-10 goals and provide 10-15 assists in the league next season id consider him a success because at the end of the day that is what you want from a winger..

Now that Ronaldo is gone, who will be our number one free kick and penalty taker? Tosic is known for his free kick ability but I doubt he'll be a first team regular just yet. Giggs is also a good candidate but again, I doubt he'll be a first team regular. Rooney is good at curving the ball from close range, I haven't seen him taking many free kicks but I always remember his first game against Fenerbache for us, he scored from a free kick in that match. Hargreaves is also great at set pieces but he's out injured and we don't know if we'll even see him next season, I hope we do. Nani can also swing his foot at set pieces but my guess he'll either get it spot on or blast it sky high, there's no middle course for him. But then again, we often did see Ronaldo failing to get the ball passed the wall.

My guess is that we won't have any number one free kick taker. I reckon we might see more versatility when it comes to that, the players will probably estimate each situation and then decide who's going to take it. These players will most likely share the free kicks depending on which players are on the pitch: Rooney, Giggs, Scholes (from long range), Hargreaves (if he will ever recover) Nani (good from long range).

Am I forgetting someone?
I reckon we should give Rooney the penalties or perhaps Anderson, that's the only type of goals he can score, lol.

Perhaps we need a blog about this speculation, it will be interesting to see who'll get all those shooting opportunities from set pieces and penalties. How's Valencia shooting ability from free kicks? I would like to hear your opinion on this matter Scott :)

this guy looks very decent from the highlights reel - although you could put together a highlight reel for diego forlan and make him look like a great player........playing for wigan under no real pressure in front of twenty odd thousand is very different to playing for the champions in front of 78,000 every other week - lets see how he copes with that.......some players can handle it, some cant.......he looks to have a great right foot shot on him though and very difficult to get the ball off.....plus he's pacey and has great touch like most south americans......he kind of reminds me of a cross between that baptista guy and kanchelskis........only time will tell if he is to become our regular right midfielder......good luck to him though.......

only one phrase for it 'FUCKING HELL'. I'm shocked that we've spunked £16m on this lad . In all honesty he'll struggle to get in the side because Park even with his limitations is alot better. I bet for £20million we could've got Ashley Young who is infitely better player with regards to goals to games and assists in addition to being a danger at set pieces something we miss badly now that ronaldo has left. Even Aaron Lennon would've been at better punt. I have nothing against Valenica and will back everytime he puts on the shirt but I have big problem with playing £16mil just for squad player its not on.

He has great pace and can score some screamers.can be a great asset especially on the break wid his flying pace .he should not get no 7 but he is a good signing and more importantly has a good final ball as compared to nani who is very wasteful.

Why the hell are people comparing him with cron.we know he is not here to replace ronaldo.he is here to replace the wide aspect of ronaldos game.nyways in the last 2 seasons ronaldo was poor on the wing so valencia will do a better job then him.as for the goasl we have to and i m sure we will sign a anew striker. Why the hell are people doubting sir alex??i m sure he knows wat he is doing.hes been too long in this business now

This man is going to make you eat your words. 16 million in my opinion is a bargain , now we have someone whos willing to deliver the ball / has plenty of pace and can score vital goals. with rooney playing up front and getting balls like valencia can produce into the box were all set. 16 million is a steal considering since ronaldos transfer the football market has soared. you have to understand aswell , united make players better !

Evras left boot how much of the lad have you actually seen of him pal. Evra for £5m was a bargain , Ronaldo at £12m was a bargain and this lad whose only scored 7 goals in his 3 years in England is you think value for money don't make me laugh. The lad won't even be ahead of Park come the start of the season. At £16mil I hope he'll add something worthwhile to squad and be a major first team player but in the real world its unlikely . Lets be honest he's not gonna score against the winner in Champions League final or in big four clash is he now
