How good to see Vidic back, though he clearly needs some time before he's going to be a first choice.

A good day's work. Well taken goals and good team work play. Clearly Rooney and RvP are growing in understanding - the missing piece will be when Kagawa comes back and slots in to give us more of an edge.

Good to see Cleverly go to mark some of his potential. Excellent taken goal. More please!

Now let's focus on the Xmas programme. If we can get past those games unscathed then that will bring some extra Xmas cheer.

Jon Phillips Rose Hill, Cheers mate, but clearly we don't know each other well enough for you to be leveling assumptions about my character.

Happy to explain myself though. Laughing at City was my intention. Not at the player OR the issue you raise. We regularly laugh at City on this site and a favorit topic is their tendency to sign players who let themselves down in their Character . Not saying that other fans won't take the piss when a United player falls short, but do enjoy a comment when it is city.

As to the racism issue, not a laughing matter at all. Dead serious in fact. Stamp it out and it starts with us fans. I actually hope that nothing untoward happened, just a 'fan' trying to make a name for themselves. The game of football doesn't need any more negative press. If you want to discuss it further, have at it then. Cheers

“Cleverley did very well in the derby and deserved his position. We have a lot of options in midfield with Anderson, who is injured at the moment, Darren Fletcher, Paul Scholes and Ryan Giggs. People says we’re weak in midfield but these are very good players.

“Sometimes it gives me a problem with selecting the correct two but today (Saturday) was very simple though because Carrick and Cleverley deserved to play after last week.”-- SAF

Does any of you have a similar dilemma when selecting United's midfield 2? I'm sorry but is SAF living in the past? He knows that people say our midfield is week but he thinks he has got Fletcher, Scholes and Giggs, who apparently are very good players at the moment.

Costas, Cheers mate, it was a peach! Cleverley's second goal of the season and both absolute peaches! But the build up beminds us of what we have been missing with him out so much of last year.

Last years community shield v the Bitters, Cleverley and Nani on in second half, end of story. Especially the build up to the second goal!
Last years 8-2 v Arsenal, Cleverley and Ando in MF for the entire game.
Then he got done by Gary Cahill and had to come of after 10min v Bolton and never the same after.

What might have been? eh.

Yep, the movement was irresistible. Tom is a weird kind of midfielder. There's not an area he particulary excels at, but his all around movement makes our passing more quick and hard to handle. Once his teammates start reading his movement, our passing game gets an added dimension. We definitely did miss him last season. Especially in games where our midfield was too static. He just has to start scoring against teams outside of Tyneside too. ;)

Just looking back at the overall class of van persie. More oftem than not, his first touch is like that of a feather floating through the wind. He may not be blistering fast but the world class players are usually quick minded, a step ahead of the opposition and that's exactly what van persie is. His movement is a nightmare for defenders as wel. Drops deep, goes left and right, always keeping defenders on the back foot and guessing. He's an archetypal dutch man with flair and imagination. They seem to produce more often than any european region. Bergkamp, robben, add RVP to the many left footed magicians. He was in the right place at the right time for his goal, always sniffing for a chance to poach. Look at his link up play with young, he jinked past 2 defenders with guile and imagination. 16th of the season, hope that continues.

Credit to jones, he looked back to his powerful best, embarking on his trademark barnstorming runs from full back. Linked well with valencia (ecuador man didn't look his best to be fair), whipped in crosses all day and shows great versatility. Tailed off last season due to injuries and form, he now looks to be finding his way back. I still wonder what position he will settle at, this is the dilemma jones and the manager have to settle.

Smalling had a great game until the part in which he switched off, brings back memories of rio in his early united career but then ended up turning world class. Smalling has everything to climb those heights. Powerful aerially, fantastic mobility across the ground. Hope he keeps learning from the experienced players because i feel his potential is superb.

Rooney had a cracking game. Left one of his shooting boots at home with some gilt edged chances but his all round play was a joy to see. He's thriving alongside RVP, two world class players on the same wavelenght. Top class players bring the best out of other top players, i hope there's more to come from wayne.

De gea was class. Showcasing he's the undisputed number 1. Yes there are bound to be one or two errors as a younger keeper but he's developing as i expected, hope that continues.

Carrick at his efficient best again. I said it once.before, when carrick.plays alongside a dynamic player, it kicks his game on. Kept things ticking and tocking till he went off. He's very.important to this united team in terms of bringing balance, experience and composure. Hope he kicks on.

Cleverley, i said he was passive a little while ago.moving the ball side to side and not stamping the authority required but his performance against city was very good, carried on the form into this game. He provides that energy, zip quick passing to compliment carrick's relaxed style but he's now starting to grab the ball and making things happen in the final 3rd. Superb combination play with michael and nice curler into the.bottom corner, that's what i like to see and hope that continues.

Thought young was effective. Less predictability in his game lately. Cutting.in or driving forward with his left foot, keeps defenders puzzled. Obviously he'd have to keep making impacts more.often before the question mark over him disappears.

Generally a good performance for an hour, annoyed slightly by giving away a sloppy goal. We can't rest, we must keep pushing as city won't go away.

Nice to have vida back. It will take him a couple of games to get back to that level though. Fergie should reintroduce gradually and wisely. You can't deny that at his best, he's a world class centre back.

most man u fans are mad to think that fergie needs new mid players or any other players for now., Chelsea have spent big yet again and fergie does 1 deal at not even 30mil and look at the results, City ok they didn't spend big for this season cos no1 can deny that they have probably the best players in English football and infact more than likely couldn't need any1 else. but as we all know fergie he dosent need players he needs a solid team!!! In UNITED we have that and that's a thing that only 1 side of Manchester will ever have.
