Very good game against a shocking Arsenal. There is still too much room behind Ando/Clev infront of our 2 CD's. But from listeningto SAF, he seems to know it.

But the balance going forward is great with Nani and Young in support both on the winger and in the middle - very difficult to defend against.

Well, football is kind of a fun way. You can torment the other players and also distract the opponents. Especially in clash of the Titans, you can bet this hilarious thing will torment your opponent quite badly. I think some have heard of the back heel penalty scoring, the keeper was stunned till he lets a weak ball rolled into the goal. It's very amusing how much you can do to pile up the tension.

Even Rooney did use his body ( I think it his butt) to stop an Arsenal player from stealing the ball from behind. The player stopped at the position not knowing what Rooney was doing. After that Rooney began to attack.

great performance by the lads yesterday. one thing that really excited me besides the free flowing football on display was the free kick setups between young and rooney. caught everyone by surprise

on another note, one thing that pissed me off was how arshavin tt little cunt managed to stay on the field for all 90minutes.

Same here, I honestly still cannot believe it. To be honest once we scored the 7th I was more in shock than jubilation, I did not know how to celebrate anymore!
Just like that 9 nil against Ipswich these sort of scorelines only happen every 15 years or so and it was great to witness the latest one yesterday...

Arsenal were really shocking yesterday - Djourou is the worst centre back I can remember seeing for a long, long time. So for my part I'm just going to enjoy the result and the mayhem our win has wrought on an old enemy and potential rivals without getting into any hyperbole as far as United is concerned. That would be complacent. Handing out a beating like that inflicted on Arsenal is worth more than the nominal 3 points given the fear it will instill in other sides who still have to come to Old Trafford.

That being said, when you face a crap side like the Arsenal side put out yesterday you still need to do the business and put them to the sword without mercy. And the lads did that yesterday - all but the first of our 8 goals were excellent goals in their own right created by intelligent play.

We play great, i m just sorry about Sneijder...but if we win trophys who cares about him. We spent less then others, but play much better...we have value for our money, like SAF said...

@Cedars, I watched Source Code a few days ago and was left shellshocked at the film's climax, much like I was after watching Inception last year. But those were both sci-fi films and not reality. This was motherfucking reality and that left me even more shellshocked. I was in a similar boat to you after the 7th went in. I was just jumping goofily around here, falling on the floor and there with the biggest grin I've ever had on my face - one that hasn't left my face still.

Cedars, I watch all my games through streams unfortunately. I usually get on of the streams using Sky as their base, so thankfully I get to watch Gary for the most part.

That doesn't change the fact that Townsend is a cunt of the highest order. As is Phil Thompson, Mike Summerbee, Jamie Redknapp, and anybody who isn't Gary Neville. I hope the aforementioned people are hanging their head in shame looking at how Gary gets about his business. He was remarkably calm after analyzing the match performance yesterday. Knowing Gary to be an emotional person as we all do, it would've been excruciatingly difficult for him to act like that to supress the grin from his face. The fact that he was able to do that demonstrates the class instilled in him by us and the measure of what a top bloke he is.

As for the Rooney conversation that occurred yesterday after I slept. I will say that I have always considered Wayne to be a better player than Messi, Xavi, Iniesta, Ronaldo, Sneijder etc. This was before his "ambition" saga and even when he was out of form last year. As I said above, they are all great players technically, but none of them can match the all-around ability of Wayne. Will Messi be able to sustain on a cold,winter night at Stoke? I doubt it. Will Wayne be able to hold his own in the current Barcelona team playing technically better football? Hell fucking yeah. That is what makes Wayne the player he is and always has been. The fact that he is not only good technically, but also physcially, and as a leader as well. I will say this again: Wayne Rooney is the best player in the world when playing to his best, and I wouldn't trade him for a million Messis or Ronaldos.

Another comment pointed out something brilliant that we have always known, I have no idea whether it was from a United fan.

*Manchester United have been the only constant in the Premier League. Under Sir Alex, we have consistently re-invented ourselves playing different styles of football, using different players, yet have remained successful at the top. Looking at the current setup, that success is set to continue for the foreseeable future with even more youth players coming through.
*The only few clubs who have consistently challenged us on a short-tem are those with more effective financial means. It was Blackburn for a while, then it was Chelsea and now it is Manchester City.
*A few clubs have challenged us on-off, but have never been able to keep their success for more than a few years continuously, and have eventually faded away when more powerful clubs have flexed their financial muscles. Examples are Liverpool, Newcastle, Tottenham and, recently, Arsenal as well.

However, the one constant is Manchester United F.C. We will always be the team to beat, and our success lies at the feet of one man and one man only - Sir Alexander Chapman Ferguson.

The performance yesterday was stunning.
And Balaji, you just stole the words from my mouth. Rooney is by far a player better than Messi and xavi.
Those five minutes, (Rooney's second, Nani and park's goal) was a glimpse of the future.
And this stupid break had just come at the wrong time!! Wish we played Citeh next week.
Special praise for Young. He was sensational. Except Rooney, i can't recall a player who has adjusted into the team with so much ease.
And on a side note, got to pity Arsenal.

To me, Rooney played more roles compared to Cristiano Ronaldo ever did. One thing I am grateful of is Rooney never left us like Ronaldo for Real Madrid. Ronaldo was a great player but I never felt like United playing as a team (like the current team does) when he is around.

Rooney did not complain much when he was overshadowed by CR7.
He continued to support others when he cannot score.
He does not hold the ball to himself and usually find whoever that has the best opportunity to convert them to goal.
Even when he was not at his best, he leads the team to fight back, not knowing when to give up.
Through efforts,he still shine when many faded away outclass by other .
He keep improving himself when others have stopped.
He has mature much since the time Ferguson took him under his wing.
His ambition is wilder and bigger than even Ferguson can imagined.
Rooney is indeed one of the best United can ever get.

I can see the pride Rooney carried as a football player. I wonder what will happen if Ronaldo has stayed with us and he was more of a team player just like Rooney. Perhaps seeing them tearing through the roof of Barcelona like a Hurricane and Tsunami is just not enough to describe the damage they can do. Dream is a dream. Nothing can be said about how much Rooney meant for us in the run to being a Europe champion.

Comparing Rooney & Messi isn't on the cards for me, not right now atleast, I would say Rooney has the talent to match Messi in a different way like for eg. messi's dribbling ability & close control is plain ridiculous where as Rooney's Vision, passing range & accuracy is also plain ridiculous, so what I'm saying is both have different skill set and one major difference between the two is consistency, while messi has been brutally consistent over the last three seasons Rooney has yet to show that level of consistency, and I'm very confident that he will be consistent from now on, let's see if he can and then we can say that we have the best & complete footie player on the planet wearing our colors

You write well and I share your joy at yesterday's result but no way is Rooney a better player than Messi, Xavi or Iniesta. Sneidjer, possibly, but that's another reason why some of us didn't want him (Sneidjer that is). It's a team game and it's a bit unfair togo overboard in singling out individuals when the overall team is delivering. There's no way SAF has ever built a side around one player - that's never been the United way - and it would be folly to do so around 'Mr Ambition'. It's about systems of play. Rooney fits into that system and is in form and the addition or coming of age of the likes of Jones, Young, Cleverley, and Nani has added an urgency and positivity to our play that our front men are benefiting from. That being said, I don't even think we've put out our strongest side as yet. Park looked excellent when he came on, and our two best strikers are still on the bench....

Balaji Sivaraman - the side between 2005 - 11 was all about experience and finally unlocking the code code of finally knowing how to play the game in europe. I would say the side was not much built around youth.

Now the current side I say is back to that model again, its youth policy has come out in full circle has patience has finally paid off, with a style of football who's short passing game is the best in the prem by a mile. That is whats changed about united, their style of play has completely changed

Im a huge Rooney fan, i admire his fantastic technical abilities but messi, that little argentine bastard is on another level, of course wayne can reach this level but he'll have to step up 2 or 3 top gears and be absolutely breathtaking consistently all season to do this as barca and messi aren't going anytime soon but Rooney undoubtedly can reach this level.

As far as absences go, Arsenal were missing 4 key players: Sagna, Vermaelen, Wilshere and Song. However, by the same token we were missing Rafael, Vidic, Fletcher and Carrick. People might point towards Arsenal's inexperience, yet our side's age average was younger. Wenger has been lauded for his youth policy, but the truth is that he doesn't always give them all the fundementals required and there will be cases like yesterday where the shit will hit the fan.
