United flew out to Moscow today ahead of our Champions League final on Wednesday against Chelsea. Spirits are high after the title win just over a week ago and thanks to our superior goalscoring and defending record this season, are favourites going in to the game.

Nemanja Vidic, who’s missed out on several games due to injury this season, is of course excited to be playing in his first European Cup final. He has been singled out as our “weak link” by Salomon Kalou today, who said, “Vidic has not played a lot because he has been injured, so that could be a weak point for them and it is up to us to play well and score a goal.” Such comments suggest he hasn’t seen much of Vidic this season, who won’t let a few injuries get in the way of him putting his head, foot or neck in the way for the sake of the team’s success.

Before leaving for Moscow, Vidic spoke of his great pride at playing for United, as well as his high hopes for the final.

“It’s nice to win a trophy – we have been playing for that all season,” he said. “We now feel much better and there’s less pressure than there has been in the last few weeks. Now we’re looking forward to going to Moscow, giving our best and looking to win a second trophy. To play for United and win trophies is a big thing and I am proud to be part of this team. Small things will decide who wins the game. I don’t think there will be many goals, but we need to defend properly and then I’m sure we have the quality up front to score against Chelsea.”
