Aaron Wan-Bissaka popped up with a surprise brilliant goal in our 4-1 win over Newcastle on Saturday night. Speaking with MUTV after the game, Wan-Bissaka reflected on what made him decide to have a go.

It’s a good feeling, quite an inspiring one. It was a good team performance as well. I just wanted to smash it. The keeper had been saving a few shots during the game so I thought “this time, let me just roof it.” After that went in, the confidence is there to push on more.

The right-back has never scored a goal in his professional career but remembers the last time he hit the back of the net in a game, playing for a Crystal Palace youth side.

It was for Palace, from a corner. It was crossed in and I volleyed it in but that was a long time ago.

Bruno Fernandes, who scored a great goal himself, joked that the players didn’t realise he could shoot.

We didn’t know he could shoot! It’s difficult to believe that he can score because we never see him shoot. We were joking to him in the dressing room, saying that we all thought he wanted to cross and he had a bad one and scored.
