There were reports earlier today that Danny Welbeck was having a medical at Arsenal ahead of his £6 million loan move. Tottenham Hotspur had been favourites to sign him but the striker preferred a move to their North London rivals.

However, his agent has claimed that Welbeck has the option to leave the club on a permanent basis, with the assumption being made that it was to Arsenal.

“There have been a few clubs in for Danny and they’re looking for loan deals with a view to buying, but Danny doesn’t want to go on loan,” he said. “He wants a straight transfer and he has every right to say that.
‘In the last half an hour I have received some interest in a straight transfer which I’m going to speak to Manchester United about.”

Arsenal have denied that any deal is in place to bring the striker to the Emirates though, whilst Sky Sports claim a medical has taken place.
