Wayne Rooney is my favourite player at United. He embodies much of what I think the perfect footballer is. Great ability, bags of passion, dedication, commitment, and above all else, he loves playing the game.
As part of his latest Nike campaign, Rooney has given his opinion on a whole range of topics. He starts by talking about his early career, when he chose not to take on another trial at Liverpool when offered the chance to join his boyhood club Everton.
He talks of the importance of getting your first touch right and being able to hold the ball up in order to get the goal. He says when he goes out on the pitch he wants to enjoy his football and wants to play a game which expresses himself as a person.
He reflects on the volley he scored against Newcastle as well as recognising the areas of his game he is working on to improve – his left foot and his heading.
