Manchester United have had a bit of a mixed season so far under Jose Mourinho. They’re doing okay at the top end of the table, but it’s clear they’re still someway off Manchester City. Jose has already spent millions bringing the likes of Paul Pogba, Romelu Lukaku and Alexis Sanchez to Old Trafford, but he’s almost certainly going to be spending more when the summer transfer window opens. Who does he have his eye on? More importantly, who does he have a chance of bringing to the theatre of dreams for the 2018/2019 Premier League season?

Cristiano Ronaldo – Real Madrid

This has been a rumour going on for years now, and it’s getting boring to hear of. Regardless, Cristiano is still a rumoured target and seeing as he’s always had feelings for Manchester United, it wouldn’t be surprising to happen this summer. He’s getting on a bit now so it’s going to be unrealistic he’s going to be able to perform the same as he did during his previous stint. However, he’s still a world class player and he could be the player that gets United fans on the edge of their seats again. Would he be as much of a success at United as he was when he left nearly a decade ago? Have a look at Toals.com and some of the latest transfer markets available.

Gareth Bale – Real Madrid

Another Real Madrid player who is linked with Manchester United this summer (and has been for the past few seasons) is Gareth Bale. The Welsh International has had a good spell at Real Madrid if you overlook his time on the side lines due to his injury setbacks. There’s been plenty of talk recently regarding his future. He doesn’t look happy on the pitch when he’s playing with his team mates and even close family and friends have told sources he’s close to handing in a transfer request because he favours a move back to England. Whether all this is true or not remains to be seen, but United would be more than happy to pay a lot of money for his signature thanks to his previous Premier League experience with Tottenham.

Toby Alderweireld – Tottenham

The defender has been in top form for Tottenham the last couple of seasons and he could be rewarded with a dream move to Old Trafford this summer. Toby has been one of the reasons why Mauricio Pochettino has been able to form a squad capable of competing for the Premier League. He would fit right in at Manchester United and, given his Premier League experience, he would be a top buy for Mourinho as he can walk straight into the squad and hit the ground running.

Isco – Real Madrid

It’s looking like Jose Mourinho wants to buy the whole Real Madrid squad this summer, and who could blame him? The papers suggest he’s got Isco on his radar this time thanks to some of his outstanding performances in a Real Madrid shirt this season. Isco feels a bit hard done by at Madrid because he’s always worked hard and showed his quality on the pitch, but Zidane has overlooked him for some of the big games, and for very little reason. He’s got good reason to leave this summer and Mourinho is ready to pounce. The attacking ace could give United that extra bit of creative quality going forward, and he’d be an excellent buy if he actually becomes available.

Edison Cavani – PSG

Manchester United don’t really have any more room for another striker, but if Edison became available on the market, they would find it hard not to get involved in a bidding war. The PSG forward has recently become the club’s top leading goal scorer, having taken over Zlatan Ibrahimović. The transfer would likely upset a few Manchester United squad players in Sanchez, Rashford, Martial and co, but it’s a transfer that’s hard to turn down for any club.

If Jose Mourinho stopped being so stubborn next year, he could forget about his defensive game and go all out attack and, by buying any of the above players, he’s going to get attacking mentality in heaps. Will he dip in the market for another striker or will he solely concentrate on his creative midfield problems?
