United go into their final home game of the season against Swansea knowing only a win is good enough in order to keep their title hopes alive, and they are a top priced 1.2 with Boylesports to do just that.

Having been 8 points clear and looking to have the title in the bag they now sit in second place on goal difference behind arch rivals City.

The defensive lapses which saw them concede four goals against Everton a fortnight ago are now looking more costlier by the minute, and their attacking performance in their 1-0 defeat to City on Monday was on a same par.

They didn’t have one shot on target in that game, and a change in formation didn’t seem to help as they failed to terrorise and create chances down the flanks like they have all season.

The result is that City now have a goal difference standing at eight, and Sir Alex’s men need big wins in their final two matches of the season or hope that their rivals slip up in their remaining fixtures if they are to lift a 20th league title.

Their fate may be slightly clearer ahead of this kick-off on Sunday, with City playing earlier in the day against high-flying Newcastle at the Sports Direct Arena.

However whatever happens in that game one thing is perfectly clear – United must win this and by as big a margin as possible.

As far as the stats are concerned, Swansea have never managed to win at Old Trafford (D2, L6) so that is one massive plus.

United have also scored four goals in each of their last two home games, in which Rooney netted twice in both.

So providing they revert to their normal playing system you would expect them to prove far too strong for the Welsh outfit.

One blow for the Red devils is that Danny Welbeck is set to miss out after he was injured in the Manchester derby, but that does pave the way for Chicharito to finally get into the starting XI.

He will be hungry to get on the scoresheet and  if given the go-ahead (which he surely will be)  is the type of player who will cause the Swans defence all sorts of problems.

At 5 with bet365 he looks a bit of value to bag the opener compared to a top price of 4.33 with Betfred for the obvious selection Rooney.

In the hope that United really go for the jugular I am going to go for them to win 4-0 or 5-0 in the correct score market.

Those scorelines can be backed at a top priced 10 and 17 with Paddy Power.
