The topic of who the greatest Ferguson team was has come up recently, with some arguing that the 1994 Double winning side was the best. They didn’t have any European success to back up their claim though, with Ferguson often criticised for not winning any many Champions League titles as he should have.
People seem to forget that three foreigners rule was in place then, with United only able to pick three players from Schmeichel, Irwin, Kanchelskis, Keane and Cantona. In 1994 we played Barcelona and got absolutely battered.
The current Barca boss, Guardiola, as well as Cruyff who criticised us for the amount of foreigners in our team, were playing for the opposition in that humiliating defeat.
The team then: Walsh, Parker, Bruce, Pallister, Irwin, Kanchelskis, Butt, Ince, Keane, Hughes, Giggs.
