Reports in the morning’s papers suggest that Fabio Capello is not at all happy with Michael Carrick after his late withdrawal from the squad.
It turns out Carrick broke his toe during the European Cup final against Barcelona last week, which meant he had to pull out of the England squad.
The injury was picked up by a scan performed by the England medical staff on Sunday, after Carrick informed them that he had been struggling with it.
Capello is said to be unhappy that Carrick did not mention the possibility of an injury sooner. Personally, I don’t get it. Surely Capello has enough faith in Gerrard, Lampard and Barry, no? Interesting.
