Benitez said yet again today that IF Gerrard and Torres had stayed fit they would be clear Premiership Champions. To coin a phrase ' If my Auntie had bollocks she'd be my Uncle'. I was working in St Helens today and although only a few miles from Liverpool, the genetic disorders caused by generations of inbreeding had not reached this part of Merseyside. Although they sounded a bit like scousers, the two eyes in their head were pointing in the same direction, they only had eight fingers and two thumbs each,they did not have webbed feet and they did not start sweating and breathing heavily when their Cousin walked past. But the Liverpool Fans I spoke to in St. Helens today all had one strange characteristic in common. They all thought Rafa Benitez was a bluffer and an arrogant prick of the highest order. As one of them said to me Ferguson builds a squad, Benitez builds a formation first then a team second then plumps his squad out with bargain basement players. When I next go to Liverpool I will take great pleasure in asking the first Dipper I come across to count on their fingers how many titles we are up to now. Considering my earlier comments about inbreeding, most of them can do this on just two hands.

Before the season has finished RB is starting to make noises about why 'Pool didn't win the title. He's blaming the loss of Torres - get used to it, he's injury prone - and SG - Mr 10%, 1 good game in 10 - hoping that next season with fewer injuries they'll win the title. What nonsense. Benitez needs to spend at least £80m on 3/4, quality players, not the rubbish he's bought in the past 5 years. But with no money to spend, and the prospect of the RBS wanting their money back off the US owners in July, spending at Anfield is going to be kept to a minimum during the transfer window.
Benitez also cannot understand why UTD look like winning the title having lost more games than 'Pool. Well, cuckoo, it's because UTD have WON more games. RB has been at Anfield for 5 years now and he still doesn't know the philosophical difference between UTD and his club. UTD play football to win - 'Pool play football not to lose. That's why they've drawn too many games this season - that's why they won't win the title. Not this season, not next season.

BrisbaneRed United's last 2 league wins have been like that.Chelsea had lost less games than us.The FSW knows that he alone cost his team the title back in January when he woke us up.

This would have been the game that we were 3-0 up and absolutely cruising at Anfield and it ended in a 3-3 draw.....

I bet when the equaliser went in (through that fat bastard thug Ruddock, if my memory serves me correctly), that banner was flying high....

Lets fast forward 15 years 4 months......

I know this is going to irritate the hell out of you all, but we have not won 18 titles yet. Do you not see how Benitez and his allies in the media all want everyone to think it's all over, in the hope that we don't turn up and Arsenal beat us. That would really set the alarm bells ringing. That's why Fergie keeps saying the players must stay focussed and take on board the fact that they are facing very strong opponents. It's not over till it's over. I don't think he'll appreciate premature gloating, it really helps no-one but Liverpool.

Giles Oakley i agree 100% about premature gloating.Me and syhayl are 2 of the most nervous people in here.One thing though.It's not certain that Liverpool will win their games is it?everyone assumes that they are and it's really annoying.For me,they have an equally tough game that we do this weekend.I wouldn't want to go to the Hawthorns this Sunday.But we should concntrate on us first.There is a chance for us to have a proper trophy celebration and we must not mess it up.

Agree that this season is not over. The Arsenal game is huge and they often do us in near the end of the season. We have to come out completely focused. We have to think their is no next game and focus on this one like we did in the semi-final. Fergie will have his work out for him to get the players fully focused but we have veterans at this club who and everyone in the team has been here before. Rio and Fergie won't let anyone forget what needs to happen and I am confident we will perform at a high level. A draw would suit me but after our last performance we should get the win. I hope Tevez is in from the start and pressures Arsenal's back line. He is in sublime form and out to prove something. Sign him or not we need to make use of this talent while he is in this kind of form. I am all for signing him and hope something happens before the final.

The usual little bitchy excuses. The simple fact that kills them is this was their biggest chance for years to win the league and they still couldn't. Arsenal have had a massive injury list ( Gallas, Clichy, Sagna, Wallcott, Fabregas, Eduardo, Rosicky, Van Persie) and a team full of kids, they'll be better next season. Chelsea have changed manager mid season again, and had their 2 biggest players missing for half the season ( Drogba and Essien ), their revival isn't down to Hiddink, it's because those 2 players got fit again. With a new manager in charge for the whole season and a couple of new signings they'll be better next season. We've had a shit load of games, a mid season jaunt to the far East, and an injury list so long not once in the entire season have we been able to field our strongest 11 ( Brown, Nev, Rio, Rafael, Evra, Hargreaves, Scholes, Carrick, Ronaldo, Anderson, Rooney, Park all been out for at least 1 month) and they've even done the double over us, and yet we're still 1 point away from the title! They know we'll be stronger next season, even if Ronaldo and Tevez leave, with the kids like Wellbeck, Macheda, Evans, and Da Silva's coming through and the signing of a world beater like Kaka or Ribery with the money for Ronaldo, and if he doesn't leave, we've still got the best player in the world! Not a bad situation to be in! They'll do well to get 4th next year if City, Everton, and Villa keep progressing and they know it.

Hmmm, without expensive players if the pools have come this far, then there is something good about the manager, players and fans.. so lets not undermine their performance this season, yes they have troubled us..

having said that coming far this season was still not enough to stop the red devils..

If Wenger can get a good defender and a more experienced defensive midfielder, I believe that Arsenal will be the biggest threat next season. I agree with what DazJoe said, Liverpool are only made to look good because of how disadvantaged the other big 4 have been. Just imagine if we had drawn against liverpool twice!, we would have won the title a couple of games ago.

If we can lose twice to liverpool and still be 6 points clear, then I would gladly lose twice to them every year. At the end of the day (oops, footballers' term), its not the battles that count, its the war. And we're on battle away from winning the war.

Whether we win the title saturday or not, I would love for West Brom to beat Liverpool and somehow stay up. They are a great team, play nice football and have decent, honest players.

Someone should definitely make a banner (providing we do get a point) saying: '18 Ooh Ahh Cantona'!

Also, someone should definitely make a banner for Chelsea games (or all games) next season:

Buy scarves from the following clubs: man utd, lpool, arsenal, everton, villa sunderland, newcastle, sheff wed, wolves, leeds, huddersfield, chelsea.

Thats the order of number of times each club has won the league (if we get a point on saturday). So the scarves will be stapled to sticks in that order. A banner with writing would have similar effect, but I think scarves make it more personal.

Anyone up for it?

Offtopic- i've heard somewhere that we can sign Tevez for free if Tevez goes to EU . It says that if a player who is not owned by a team and by some company then he can leave them if he is unhappy with the contract. Also has Tevez rejected a 40 million offer from madrid i've read it on espnstar.com.

I fucking hate those scouse cunts. A friend of mine if a pool fan, and he has no connection with them. I'm originally from manchester, yet I'M labelled the glory fan!?! That makes me hate them even more. Lets hope God hangs around another year just so we can get to 19 to fuck them off. Living on past glories, dirty bin dwelling, signing on cunts.
